Generations Growing in Faith

Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see." Jesus told him, "Go your way; your faith has saved you." Immediately he received his sight.

- Mark 10:51-52

February will be an important month for our spiritual growth!  We begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday, February 10.  Lent is a season for the whole parish to reflect on our relationship with Jesus Christ.  Are we truly following him and learning from him, or are we just going through the motions?  To help you with this question, we are giving each family a copy of Rediscover Jesus by Matthew Kelly.  A great Lenten project this year would be to prayerfully read this book!

This year our special Lenten devotions will include an evening Mass at 7:00 p.m. for the first four Wednesdays of Lent with some guest presiders.   On Tuesday, February 23, there will be confessions from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. as part of the Archdiocese’s program “The Light Is On.”  The first hour will be our traditional Lenten Penance Service.  On Wednesday, March 16, the week before Holy Week, Mike Davis will again perform his Stations of the Cross Concert. We will have the Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent in Church at 7:00 p.m.  There will be extra copies of “The Word Among Us” for your meditation on the Lenten Scriptures. All of this is to provide opportunities for us to have a grace-filled Lenten season!

Ladies of the parish there is still time to join us for a weekend of spiritual renewal on February 20 and 21.  A team of women from the parish and Fr. Chris will be offering a Christ Renews His Parish weekend.  If you have been putting this off, perhaps “now is the acceptable time, now is the time of salvation!”  Call the office to reserve a spot.  Fun, laughter, prayer, scripture, witness, good food, community, inspiration!  Join us. It will be a weekend you will not forget.

Finally, if any of you have drifted away from parish life over the years, please know that you are always welcome to come back and reconnect with some wonderful people.  The beginning of Lent is a good time to do it.  The Lord invites you and all of us, “Return to me with all your heart!”
